Identification and Diagnosis of Transboundary River Basin Water Management in China and Neighboring Countries

Numerous studies have demonstrated that a complex distribution of water resources, regional development, and management mechanisms create significant challenges for transboundary river basins. We utilized diagnostic thinking to examine the issues 14 main watersheds in three regions (Northeast, Northwest, Southwest) China. Our four diagnosis points were quantity, quality, ecological stability human health, cooperation among watershed stakeholders. found faced varying issues. The Indus Ganges basins worst problems, whereas Tarim basin’s environment is most vulnerable Ob basin fittest. Therefore, depending on each results, we provide practical ideas each. Furthermore, summarized classified geographical settings determined major region results direction both new research with management.
